Oil Lamp Beam

Crafted oil lamps for LUCES 1 show

Responding to an invitation to participate in a gallery show around the theme of LIGHTS (LUCES), we experimented with layering of materials over a simple 4”x4”x8’ wood beam to serve as base and container of an oil lamp.  The resulting wood, rubber, resin, steel and glass became a literal ‘beam of light’; a wall mounted 8’ long oil lamp that ‘hovered’ 3’ above the ground and provided a monastic warm light.
